L'illusione dei test di intelligenza svincolati dalla cultura

Michael Cole

Abstract

The Illusion of Culture-free intelligence Testing

The birth and circulation of IQ tests have been motivated by the necessity of creating objective modes, context-free, by which to measure intellectual abilities. Historically the progressive diffusion of these methods has been contrasted with the thought of academics, who stemmed from various fields of knowledge. These authors demolished the illusion of a culture-free “mind”, as intended by the academicians that have arranged the institution and divulgation of IQ testing. After briefly describing the layout of the foundation upon which these tests have been established, it will be proposed a “thought experiment,” in order to demonstrate that the ideas of “intelligence” and “ability” cannot exist outside the cultural context which generates them.
