Abstract

The job includes. Outcomes evaluation of job placement and social inclusion pathways programs for disadvantaged people

This Study aims to monitor and evaluate the outcome of training course named "The Work that includes", through qualitative and quantitative approach. The evaluation methodology was based on a multidisciplinary approach ideal to understand the complexity of change and to evaluate training efficacy (effectiveness), in terms of improved psychological well-being and social relationships of those involved. The evaluation system is based on microcredit program impact studies. Microcredit experience and training course are both development program with an aim to offering disadvantaged people the opportunity to reach self-employment market. The training course involved 202 participants of which 110 belong to the category disabled and 92 are disadvantaged young people. Only a 35% (72) of the total sample took part in this study. Particularly significant is the improvement that characterizes the capability, self-esteem and psychological well-being dimensions. Following the training course, the subjects achieved a score significantly higher in all scales of measurement of entrepreneurial skills. It is clear, therefore, that participation in the training program has influenced the level of empowerment of the beneficiaries, or the perception that individuals have on themselves and their abilities. This improvement was achieved regardless of individual characteristics (age, gender, level of education) and from belonging to one of the categories of disadvantaged groups (disabled vs. disadvantaged). Psychological well-being obtains the greatest impact. As a result of participation in the training course psychological distress level (reduction of anxiety-depressive symptoms and social dysfunction) decreased and number and quality of social relations increased. This change occurred in the majority of subjects, regardless of individual characteristics and belonging to the categories selected. In conclusion, considering that the primary intention of this training course was to promote pathways to empowerment in order to facilitate a future placement of the parties involved, we can say that these objectives have been achieved.
